Travertine Tiles

Travertine tiles have a natural way of adding opulence to an area. The blend of earthy colours and individual patterning create an artwork in each tile. The strength and durability of Travertine tiles only add even greater appeal next to their beauty in colour and pattern. Popular uses for travertine tiling include customization to whole living area such as bathrooms, kitchens, pool coping, outdoor patios and BBQ areas, even facades. Customization is always one of a kind when using natural travertine as no two tiles will be the same, adding personality and uniqueness to your space.
Travertine tiles are distinguishable by their naturally formed troughs and pit holes. Travertine is formed over thousands of years by subterranean springs, underground rivers and other water sources. These water sources carry mineral elements such as calcium carbonate that build up over long periods of time in the same way stalactites and stalagmites in caves are formed allowing for a range of colours from white to grey through to coral red. Most of the Travertine in Australia is sourced from Turkey and Iran which is known today to provide some of the highest quality travertine products in the world.
Common Sizes for Travertine Tiles
When used indoors Travertine floor tiles should be less than 20mm thick. For use on bathroom walls the ideal thickness is 12mm. If used outdoors as a paver 30mm thickness is recommended unless laid on a concrete base where a thinner Travertine tile may be used.
Travertine Pavers and Tiles come in a variety of sizes and thickness. Most common sizes for indoor flooring, walls and paving are 400mm x 400mm, 600mm x 400mm and French patterning.
Larger and smaller Travertine tiles are available usually as a special order. Thickness will increase generally from 12mm for wall tiles, up to 20mm for floor tiles and 30mm for pavers.
